Lifters over 50
Ageing muscle needs a louder signal. 3 g of leucine puts every bar at the top of the range researchers suggest for older adults.
Leucent 3.0 · High-leucine protein bar
Leucent 3.0 is a protein bar built around the one amino acid that tells your muscles to build: 3 grams of leucine in every bar.
02 · The problem
Labels sell protein by the gram. Your muscles respond to something more specific. A bar built on 15 grams of mixed protein usually delivers around 1.5 grams of leucine, often less when collagen or soy makes up the protein count.
You ate the protein. The signal stayed quiet.
03 · The threshold
Research on muscle protein synthesis points to roughly 2.5–3 grams of leucine in a single sitting as the point where the building signal fully switches on. Older adults may need the top of that range or more.
We built the bar backwards from that line.
Leucine threshold · ~2.5–3 g per meal
Read: the leucine threshold →04 · The molecule
Leucine, isoleucine and valine are the branched-chain amino acids. Leucine is the one that activates mTORC1, the pathway that starts muscle protein synthesis. The other two come along for the ride.
That's why we don't sell a BCAA blend. We just put in more leucine.

06 · Who it's for

02 · Cutting
Fewer calories means every gram has to work. 3 g of leucine and 21 g of protein in 220 kcal.
03 · Plant-leaning
Plant proteins usually carry less leucine. One bar alongside a plant meal tops up the gap.

| Whey protein bar | 20 g | ~2.0–2.2 g |

Most protein bars contain about 1–2 g of leucine. Bars with 15–20 g of mixed protein usually deliver 1.2–1.8 g, and collagen-based bars under 1 g. Leucent 3.0 contains 3.0 g per bar.
It's the amount of leucine in one meal needed to fully switch on muscle protein synthesis. Research suggests roughly 2.5–3 g per sitting, and 3 g or more for adults over 50. More on the threshold.
Leucent 3.0 is built around leucine, with 3.0 g per 55 g bar: about 2.1 g from whey isolate and milk protein plus 0.9 g of added L-leucine. Most bars contain 1–2 g. See the comparison.
Leucine is the BCAA that switches on muscle building, but it works best inside complete protein. That's why we add leucine to 21 g of dairy protein instead of using a BCAA blend. Leucine vs BCAAs.
Adults over 50 experience anabolic resistance and benefit from about 3 g of leucine per feeding. Leucent 3.0 delivers 3.0 g of leucine with 21 g of complete protein. More for lifters over 50.
Yes, but it takes more. Pea and soy protein are about 8% leucine, so you need roughly 35–40 g of plant protein to reach 3 g. A high-leucine snack alongside a plant meal can close the gap. Plant-based leucine guide.
